The feeling of that scene as well as the image has seemed to become the theme in my naming of tracks for the upcoming RPM Challenge release, Burst from the Sky, Take Flight. The title is working but thinking of it being. Let me know in a comment if you like or ‘like it’ .

This month I’m working on a cd of my music as participation in the RPM Challenge. The project started out solo as a return to the guitar. I recently expanded and invited occasional collaborativer world drummer Will Romano to join me on some of the pieces. With the energy from today I will include some of the Ross-Goodin work and am toying with inviting Will to add to one of those tracks.

The working title for the soon to be released RPM cd is Burst from the Sky, Take Flight.

One issue that is fighting me a bit is I’m using a Fender 12 I was given several years ago. Though the neck is not great it was settled enough to begin the project however I’ve had some drift. I tried a neck tweak a couple of times of the truss rod but so far not there.

This records has spurned my interest in working with the 12 string so probably another instrument is on the radar.

Tentative title will be Burst from the Sky, Take Flight.

Next episode slated for sometime in March will feature experimental composer and leader of the Lizard Skin Ensemble, Steve Moshier.

On the music front for last several years I have experimented with a number of instruments in my work with many being fretless. In recent weeks I have been experiencing a return to the solo fretted guitar, a foundation I pursued for much of my musical adult life. I’m playing a lot of 12 string guitar currently and am participating this month in the RPM Challenge an online event that celebrates the spirit of encouraging musicians to release a cd of their work all done and produced in the month of February. I have been part of this event since 2007.

I’m excited about the prices and sound that at coming together for this record, it’s been a while since I hav put out a focused body of work and I’m excited about doing that.

Steve and I, musical collaborators since meeting via the ReUse project, a CD I produced for the CT-Collective online community, are part of the band Digitsignal. Steve lives in England and we have recently completed two NinJam sessions with the first yielding a three track EP titled Growing Towards the Sun, available on Bandcamp.

The EP titled Growing Towards the Sun with a lovely photographic image by Luis Argerich, features song titles all inspired by plants. The three songs are ‘Cactus‘, ‘Money Tree‘ and ‘Aloe‘. The EP digital download is available on Bandcamp.com at a ‘name your own price’.

Moyes who lives in England and Goodin in the United States collaborated live for this recording through the real-time audio streaming software NinJam. Moyes performed on electric guitar, effects and computer and Goodin, electric violin, effects and loops.

Tomorrow, Oct. 3rd, we walk to cure type 1 diabetes, a condition that affects my daughter Callie, friend and music partner Peter Thörn and so many others on our planet. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International one of the most forefront organizations furthering and pushing the envelope in finding a cure for type 1 diabetes.

JDRF holds special Walks all over the US such as the one we are taking part in tomorrow morning at 9am in Battery Park, lower Manhattan (NYC). These days with this one being our 6th year to take part, bring together those afflicted with this disease and those who are family’s and support bases of those afflicted, in a day of recognition, support and encouragement and celebration really for all of their tenacity in staying healthy with this disease which is a daunting task, filled with multiple daily blood sugar tests and insulin injections or pumps into their bodies, before they have breakfast, lunch or dinner or even a snack sometimes.

My family in support of JDRF and my daughter has raised to date $4,600. Donations are received through the end of October so please consider supporting this great research need so one day a solution, a cure will be found.
